Something about musicians named Wilson. Steven reminds me of a modern day Brian. I saw him in Toronto a couple years ago and he's a great player who hires even better players to work with. He really thinks outside the box and releases material in both stereo and surround sound in uber high fidelity. A musician for audiophiles and rockers alike.

++1 Big fan for years, check out Blackest Eyes.  Also checkout live concert "Arriving Somewhere not here".

He is also a well known producer having worked with Opeth amongst others

As I said ... someone that ends up making his music sound way better than it really is, or might be.
 
Don't get me wrong, I like the quality, it is exceptional, but in many ways, the music is half empty for me, and the effect is not as valuable all around.

One last comment ... Steven can also be mean spirited. In 1999, at the Progressive Rock Festival, I was one of the official photographers for the whole event and Steven would not allow any pictures to be taken, and the only pictures I snuck in were the ones without a flash, but not of the band, or him, as the staging made it hard to be able to get to him and the band together. The producer was upset with this, since it was HIS CONCERT, and he had a right to the pictures.  I have pics of all the others on my website, and Mr. tooselfinvolved is the only one not there.
 
And I have never charged for my pictures and always gave the musicians a 5x7 set of all the negatives that came back good. Many examples on my own website, specially GONG.
 
But, it defined "ego" from "music" for me, not that I already did not know about it.
