I need low to low medium lighting for my studio. Everything's too bright! I don't need bright lights for practicing or listening. Which should I get? Lava Lamp or regular Lamp

Those amber-ish 40W light bulbs that came with the lamps I bought from Home Goods for the studio are THE answer to all my lighting wishes. I posted pics in that other thread...

I hope I can easily find replacements for them because I really wouldn't want to go back to regular bulbs.

I'm moving to a Philips hue system soon. Most of the lighting I'll be using will be ambient from LED strips or occasionally turning on the overhead A19's

ok, here's the real deal:

but the overhead light is on for this shot,
so you really don't see that the floorlamp light is pretty mellow....
i've got a 13 w led in mine,
it's really nice, low enough light to see everything i need to see,
but super mellow.

I use a lava lamp with 40W bulb. Also if you look at my avatar photo to the left, you will notice two 'spots' of light, which come from two cantilever lamps with a variostat to go from off to bright and every ambient level inbetween as required. The key to working in a real low light level atmosphere though, is to get a computer keyboard with a backlight, I have one on a tray which slides out from under the front of my desk, that really allows working in near darkness with just the glow of the lava lamp and the light from the screen(s) of course...HTH, Garry
