I like Dava but have been using Snarling Dog Brain Picks for the last 2 or 3 years.  I use a variety of thicknesses.  My local shop carries onesies ... I originally tried them because even Dava picks tend to spin.  Theses are prickly on the grip and don't slip at all even with a light grasp.  Once I tried them, I like the material, flex, feel too.  Now my pick of choice

This is what I use for guitar too, and they (mostly) solved my pick-dropping issues.

They come in a variety of gauges and I bought a tin of each:
.53mm Green
.60mm Purple
.73mm Red
.88mm Black
1.0mm Grey
1.14mm Orange

I mostly use the Orange and Grey on electric and the Red and Green on acoustic, depending on the specific guitar and what I'm looking for.

On bass when I'm not using my fingers I use white Fender Extra Heavy. And it's very important to me that they're the white ones, so I had to buy a gross of them as unfortunately that's the only way you can get that specific combination nowadays.

lulz...

and the best pizza is square pizza...

I don't know why but right angles seem to add to the deliciousness.

Hi, Steve. Top one.

The bottom though is a good example of the "super sharp point" I was referring to that I dislike that some of the Tortex triangles come with. Never liked them on the standard shaped picks either.

And yeah... my pizza geometry may be a little off but that's just what I've always called them. lulz...

Cheers.

Cool, thanks Beep.

Just ordered a variety pack of six to try out.

Yngwie Malmsteen uses really sharp picks but he seems to only use them for some minutes. i wonder if they dont last longer for that type of playing. like if your used to sharp ones you have to get new ones regularly compared to more rounded.

Ah I see. Cool. They take a bit of getting used to but I really do think they're the shiz.

As far as Tortex as a pick material, if you've never used it I think you're gonna really like it considering the styles you're into. Lasts longer, nice flex action without being "floppy" (and don't get floppier when they heat up which I find other picks sometimes do) and they wear down nice and smooth like the strings are sandpapering them instead of taking out grooves and gauges like other materials.

In a lot of ways I think they really changed my playing style for the better because I don't have worry about my pick exploding or busting strings when I play harder.

Cheers.

Yeah the points on those wear down real quick and in kind of a weird way. For his ultra insane single note picking I could definitely see them being useful. They suck for chords, chugging or trying to play with a lot of feeling/dynamics though... in my experience anyway.

I think a lot of jazz guys use those super pointy ones too.

Just watched a YouTube clip by a very good guitarist discussing picks. He had been using RedBear but found them wearing too fast. He tried out several but ended up with his two favorites...JB and Blue Chip. He really liked the Blue Chip better...only trouble was the JB cost $8 bucks...the Blue Chip, $75. Whoa.
