That's funny.
In college I bought a gross of those Herco Heavy nylon picks.
I'm in my fifties now.
I have about 110 of those picks still in the original paper bag if anyone is interested.  ;-)

back in my younger days, when i first started on the road, me and my other guitar player, went thru a 'holdsworth' phase, where we were trying to get the 'attackless' sound he has (not his chops or licks, per se, just the sound).....

it is absolutely quiet, with no pick attack. super legato.

later, we figured out it was dirt simple.... it's his technique. he picks softly, just barely pushing the string.

but we had a bunch of these old 35mm film containers, the black plastic ones with the soft gray rubbery caps...

we would take these caps,
cut them into pick shapes (using Dunlop nylons as a template) and carefully trim the 'picking' edge to have chamfered edges...

we called them the 'Flesh Pick'

LOL

and phuck all, if they didn't work.

not good for playing funky rhythms, tho.

LOL

Good old Fender mediums- I like the white ones....since the year of the flood. Never felt the urge or need to change

Hi,

Gosh ... that and Mel Brooks little ____  ... oh well, forget it!

Honestly, I have not ever used a pick on my bass, and not sure I would know how ... maybe by the time I get a lesson or two I might learn to use it, but as of right now, every time I tried, it sounded horrible, compared to the touches I can create with my fingers. And I mean "touches" .... !!!!
