Jonbouy
Having had a bit of downtime of late I wanted to get my teeth into putting something together from start to finish again.  The good lady wanted to hear a cover of this particular song so I had a bash at it so I got her to sing a bit over the choruses as punishment as well.

I'm just glad to have got through a project from start to finish as I haven't managed to do that for quite some time so I'd thought I'd share it.

It was a big hit from a band called Hot Chocolate from the UK during the early '70's despite being a bit of a morose melodrama.

Here goes.

very nice, Jon

mix sounds very nice on my monitors  (KRK VXT8)

your voice and the female backup reminds me of a Leonard Cohen arrangement;
(in my opinion it doesn't get better than Leonard Cohen)

You sexy thing.

I like it. The guitar tone seems dark when juxtaposed with your vocal tone yet it's true to the original. The vibe seems really good on the back line, and I like your vocal style. It seems to have potential for a very close up, intimate delivery. The delay? treatment may be a distraction from what I hear as a potential for connecting with a deep emotion I hear in your voice.

It's great to hear your *vision* on the whole production.

Thanks for sharing.

best regards,

I don't think I've ever heard that song before - but it's pretty cool - enjoyed what you did.

Way to go, Jon!  Wow--from start to finish...vox and all.  I'm impressed! :)  Just had to stop in for a few minutes...and just HAD to listen to this one.  Nice!

Nice fun tune here Jon. I like the guitar sound and those vocals are deep. Sounds pretty good for a one nighter.

Peace and Blessings, John

Nicely done.  Great bouncey performance.  Vocals, esp. the choruses, great.  Almost Barry White doing rap.  Except better.

Being young enough to remember this I think you captured the essence of this Jon.

Mix translates well here and the guitar tone sounds good.

Thanks for sharing.

I like space created in this song. Great mix. I'd like to hear a tad more from the drums.

It's missing some noisy bugger guitar though. Other than that, excellent work by The Bouy and The Mermaid.

Very tasty JB. Nice clean, clear mix. Good choice for your unique vocal style. Those are some nice little guitar licks towards the fade out. Well done.
