Hi guyz , as a owner of omnisphere i was wondering if i would go for the upgrade or go with the mistery witch is ZEBRA 2 + dark zebra

I own omnisphere one and i wa wanted to know for the ugraders around , concerning the specs , the 64 gb are the whole thing or is it added to the 44 gb of the previous lib .????

Any Zebra user around ?

Any feedback would be great

I wanted to go as Vastman suggested with albion one , but i'm served with albion 1/2/3 and edna

Thks

I don't have either but I have looked at both of them for you and there are some general things to consider. I bet you are not pushing Omnisphere to the max now so an upgrade like Omni 2 could be amazing to say the least.

On the other hand Zebra 2 looks excellent too and offers quite a few forms of synthesis. But there is no granular synth for example where as Omni 2 has got granular synthesis. I have just got into granular in a big way with both Mangle and New Sonic Arts Granite. I am in love with them. It can do stuff no other synth can even think about, Zebra included. But it also depends on how keen you are for granular type sounds.(they can be musical and tuneful and also be controlled via a keyboard midi controller but mostly they are wild and out of this world!!!)

I see Omni 2 offers more FM and wavetable stuff too.

But then again getting something like Zebra 2 will give you a new and fresh sonic signature synth sound. These plugins all do sound quite different today like in the old hardware days too. I love that about them. So if it is a fresh sound you are after Zebra is bound to give it to you. I use Synthmaster for example and love it because it sounds different to other stuff I use. Alchemy is like that as well.

I am impressed with Omnisphere myself but I also have some pretty deep and powerful machines which offer more sound variations. Everything that comes out of Omnisphere might have that sound. (unless I am wrong and please existing Omni users put me right if I am wrong on that.)

Just a few things to think about Zo that is all.

I have both. They complement one another.

I use Zebra when I want to program my own sound, as that's a little easier than with Omnisphere.

However, I have not yet upgraded to Omnisphere 2, and what I'm hearing is that it is a much more capable synthesizer now for rolling your own sounds. If it's as good as they say, it might even make Zebra unnecessary.

Not that I'd want to get rid of Zebra. I like it a lot, and will definitely upgrade to version 3 when it comes along.

Zo, have you not been to the Plugin Guru site?  Plenty of material there for you to see how whiz bang Omnisphere 2 is.

Thks guyz !!

Yep i own also plugin guru's omniverse series , exellent

i'm trying as i write Zebra , very flexible , i would have liked more waveforms but i 'm in it since 15 min so let's see what i can end up with , what annoys me in omnisphere is the samples , size and volume it takes , i'm tired of samples sometimes .....  i might end up coding my own synth one day lol !!!

using it's own sample in omnipsher is not some i'm looking for , and granular synthesis also ...i just want powwerfull synth with exellent waves forms ... i bought trillian and bob moog tribute just to get those ....

EDIT : i cheked the preset , i rarelly heard preset that sucks as those lol i might skip it just for that , i ove to tweak , i also love great starting presets ... basses are great the rest : meh , but the hanz zimmer preset ack from the demo i heard on youtube sounds good , i just tried by the FAW Circle and it's a beast !!

Over 400 new waveforms.

Sounds like you are leaning towards an instrument that does not lean heavily on sampled waveforms.  At least in Zebra they say you can draw your own waveforms which sounds very interesting.

I know how you feel.  I also have a hardware Kawai K5000 additive synth.  No samples there folks.  Just good old plain complex additive waves.  And you can design your own if you are game.  It produces sounds I have never heard from anything else, end of story!  I hated it at first but love it now though.

Granular is not for everyone either.  Although it does use samples it uses them in a very unusual way though.

Native "Prism' is also pretty amazing too and very unusual.

Jeef you're right , i own komplete ultimate , and never use reaktor , it's a shame , i might stay calm and buy a komplete kontrol to really use NI stuff to its full potential , the new Reaktor is a **** modular beast !!
