  • The Bouy: Delboy vs Eminem - Damien's Song

Jonbouy
This is just for fun, it's an instrumental cover of Eminem's, Hailie's Song using the dialogue from the closing monologue by 'Delboy' to his new-born son Damien in the last ever scheduled episode of the classic sitcom 'Only Fools and Horses' broadcast back in 1991 as the 'rap'.

I've been experimenting a bit lately with the rhythmic qualities of dialogue and how it can be used in a musical context and I was hearing this track whilst watching a re-run of this particular episode so I decided to put them together to see what happened, there's no time stretching the dialogue was just simply cut into 3 sections and placed on the track to fall wherever it did.  I just liked what pooped out the other end so I thought I'd share it.   The great actor David Jason is the voice here and he's music to my ears even without backing, I'm sure it's the main reason it seemed to just work.

Enough waffle already, here it is.

I feel the music is to far up front and should go to the background and be quieter. The drum slap kills the whole thing, lower it and this would sound better. I have to strain to hear the vocals and they should be up front more. The laughing is also to loud and should be just below the vocals about 2 or 3 db. Still, all and all it is quite interesting.

Peace and Blessings, John

The Maillard Reaction
The spoken word has a great rhythm to it and it seems to fit the beats pretty well.

It's an ear opener.

Thanks for sharing.

best regards,
