UPDATED 8/8  NOON.  Incorporated suggestions below.  Thank you!

I haven't been around for awhile.  I got back about a week ago from a 3 week trout fishing excursion to Montana.  Awesome weather, mountain country, and we caught a pile of nice trout.

On a not-so-good note, my tinnitus in my ears as made my right ear almost deaf for the past week.  I'm praying it will come back some, although the right ear has been weaker for some time.  This is scary as all music sounds slightly distorted to me now as my right ear hears everything as though it's coming out of a 1-inch speaker.

I've been working hard on my solo live act, which I expect to be ready for a night of gigging by the end of the year.  Because of my hearing I have several new tunes in progress that I've put on hold, hoping my hearing get's back to it's old regular bad self instead of this curse I'm dealing with now.

Consequently I really need help with the mix on this tune, especially the balance.  It was all but done before I went to Montana and I would like to put this one to bed.  I appreciate the use of your ears.  This right ear could really turn into a nightmare.

Daryl,

Sorry to hear about your tinnitus.  Hope your hearing returns to normal soon.

Guitar sounds great but maybe a tad loud in comparison to the rest of the mix.  Would also like to hear a bit more bass/bottom end, most of the energy seems focused in the mid range...  Cool song.

Hi Daryl, I hope you recover quickly.  This is a good mix overall, but I tend to agree that some of the guitar licks are loud.  I'm usually of the opinion that the lead vocal should be the loudest element of a vocal song, and your guitar overshadows the vocal although they don't occur at the same time.  The guitar tone is perfect, btw.  All in all, this is a fantastic song, and the performances are marvelous.

Thanks guys.  The bass seems loud to me, but I agree with the guitar.  I agree with all you say because right now I can't hear ****.  My right ear has been weaker for some time, but this is over the top.  The worsening came on suddenly, so I hope it backs off suddenly.

Thanks, I will make some changes and repost.   This could kill me recording.... but I seem to be holding up on the solo live material.  Getting old sucks.   One of my long term employees (or was before I retired) has just been sent home with Hospice to die.  Just a reminder to enjoy and make the most of every day.

I liked it Darryl, nice and mellow and the mix sounds great. And it sounds like Big Sky country was a dream get away. I'm very sorry to hear about your hearing. You need to at least see a good audiologist, I think there are some supplements that can help with tinnitus.

Daryl, Nice song with a nice sound. It seems to me that the drums lay back a bit in the mix and could also be panned a bit to the left side. The guitar sounds great, but could be brought done just a little bit and maybe panned to the right. Everything else seems to be blending nice and smooth. That guitar sound you got going sounds really good, I like it, has a nice smooth sound to it. Nice song and the vocals fit this piece very nicely. Good one for sure.

Peace and Blessings, John

Daryl - nice song and nice guitar tones.  Sorry to hear about your tinnitus.  I'm sure you've already researched this and am pursuing some kind of treatments.  Just a couple things just in case:  One thing is Wobenzym (an enzyme supplement) can get rid of tinnitus.  It works wonders for other things as well.  If you try Wobenzym you have to take it on an empty stomach. The other thing - I was with Gino Vannelli last summer, and he had a really bad ear problem in one of his ears.  He thought it was damaged, but turned out it was a virus.  His homeopath diagnosed and treated it and the problem went away.

Hi Daryl,
Montana is a place I dream about checking out someday ....

I'm saddened to hear that you are having issues w your hearing ...
I hope you can work past the issues , find healing , wholeness , and find a blessing on the other end ........

You are one of the few people here that knows I had to relearn how to play the guitar after my bike accident 3 years ago
I would do it all over again if I had to because I found something I didn't have & didn't know I needed ....

I liked your song ...very easy to listen to ..
can't be much help on the mix ..it's early am over here and I'm surrounded by my apt dwelling neighbors

i enjoyed you vocal parts and harmonies ...your guitar has a wonderful tone
overall your playing , singing and song presentation has been steadily climbing with every song posting and I must say watching you grow musically over the years has been a real treat to have witnessed .....

Love your tone & Wes licks... bass might be a little heavy but not much... Vocal could use some highpass filtering a bit... also I believe the vocal harmony would be more effective if used a little less... maybe every other line... is it just me?...
Very cool tune, and lyrics... great vocal too...
I'm sad to hear about your ear... I once lost the use of one of mine, but thankfully it was only for a few days... but it freaked me out... I hope you too recover soon...
Thanks for buying my new album... please let me know if you like it... or not... I sure have enjoyed yours...
