Hi folks,

Here's my homage to classic Nashville-style weepy country ballads. It's a cheatin' song. Don't listen if you have an aversion to
strings and pedal steel.

I've listened to this so many times that I've gotten used to any glaring flaws in the arrangement or mix. Feel free to point these out and suggest improvements. Any criticism, however blunt, is appreciated!

Love the title.

I Think the voc is way too loud. But, then, since it's a digital story, who cares.

The whole concept of the singer telling the "you" person about the affair seems a little un-realistic and weird to me though.

Timidi, thanks for listening and for the comments.  The vocal is loud, yes, but that is common to this style, I think.  Maybe I'll try pulling it down a bit.  And my concept of the song is a guy trying to explain his actions to his wife, who has found him out.    Good points, though ... keep 'em coming!

Cheers,
Eddie

I think this song really captures that honky-tonk feel that I grew up with.   The vocal and instruments are spot on in this mix, and country vocals are typically louder than many other genres.  Very well done, Eddie.

Eddie, this is very good. Beautiful pedal steel. Is that you playing it? Nice vocals too. Great mix. The only thing that could make it any better in my opinion is some prominent harmonies during the chorus. But other than that it's great! Good job!

Eddie,

Love strings, love pedal and generally enjoy country / western  music. Playing is terrific and I like the mix. Vocals are prominent and that’s your intent – they sound good to me (but just a tiny bit too up front for my ears).

So there you have it – a solid country tune, fit for bar-rooms, honkey-tonks and 18 wheelers.

You did ask for crits/suggestions and I have none but two things did occur to me as I was listening.
1)      Lyrically, I don’t think there’s a person on earth dumb enough to hear those words “I pretended she was you” and even consider doing anything other than knocking you out.
2)      The pacing of the words. It felt like you were struggling to sing it so slowly – as if it would have flowed more easily if the track was a bit faster.

Good job.
