Bit,

Fine start to this yet to be named tune.   Recognize a number of Omnisphere sounds in here..  It all sounds good.   Couple points here and there, where the guitar Pitch Wheel is noticeable, probably wouldn't be noticed by most.  Stringed instruments can be a real pain with the Pitch Wheel.   That said, it sounds great overall, quite enjoyable listen.

Regards

I get a lot of inspiration from the folks who frequent this forum and listen to as much as I can, even though I rarely comment. I also suffer from the greener-over-there syndrome: when I hear a symphonic piece I want to drop everything and go back to doing that. Then I hear some bluesy thing by the likes of notnat or AT, or some good ol' straight-ahead rock 'n roll from batsbrew or Bob Oister, I want to drop everything and do something like that. And then yorolpal comes along with a novelty tune and I want to spend the day with a notepad and write some clever lyrics. Then I hear julibee sing - anything - and wonder why I even bother croaking out vocals at all.

Thanks to everybody for providing me with so much free entertainment!

great - this shows just how open you are for new stuff! I myself get a lot of inspiration and entertainment too from this forum...I wish I could inspire you to write a song with German lyrics...how cool would that be?

I'd have to part a lot of mental cobwebs to retrieve enough German vocabulary to write a song lyric! It was 40 years when I lived in Germany, and there haven't been a lot of Germans to talk around these parts. Plus I learned the language in Bavaria, which is akin to a German learning to speak English in Mississippi. Plus there's the problem with no umlaut on my keyboard...excuses, I got a bunch of 'em.

Mark: yeh, I've noticed that Omnisphere is prone to a zipper effect on certain patches when pitchwheel events are manually drawn in. There is apparently no smoothing going on, as some other synths do. At least, I don't see any options for it. There's no problem if I actually record the pitchwheel as opposed to drawing the curves in by hand. I just like the precision of drawing them in, so I know exactly where the note's going to land.

Nice job Bit.  I haven't heard any of your creations for a long time.  It is nice that you shared this.  This piece has lots of nice sounding parts in it.  Good textures.

that's right, all I hear are excuses  not too long ago, there was a eurodance-project called "Mo-Do" who had a major hit in Germany with "Eins Zwei Polizei" - the lyrics were eight lines of a children rhyme! So your Bavarian drinking songs "Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit" or "Eoans Zwoa Gsuffa" lyrics should be sufficient enough! (and if you say "alright speedtom, why don't YOU do it": I can't. It must be a foreigner doing this is to make it charming enough. "Mo-Do" for instance were from Italy!)

Nice sonic textures going on in that piece.  And well mixed.  Last summer I noticed Gino Vannelli relying on Omnisphere in his studio quite a lot and I told myself that I need to buy that package.  A year later and I still don't have it.  Maybe it has something to do with the price tag.

As I'm writing this I'm listening to your next song - helicopter - very cool stuff going on - great guitars sounds and vocals.

Omnishpere seems like Dimension - but I would imagine it goes a lot further?  More flexible?

I listened to this song on Soundcloud the other day and left my comments there (I think it's great just for the record). I would like to echo your comments on the people here on the forum. Everyone has been such an inspiration for me to get better at engineering audio. Some of you guys are really getting impressive results that makes me believe there is a chance I might be able to do myself justice someday. It's a great time to be a musician! I remember going into a studio for the first time in 86 or 87. I left knowing I would someday end up in my own studio doing things my way for better or worse. I didn't have a clue how I was going to buy that $20,000 Tascam board, 2" tape machines or all of the other equipment. Now I'm getting much better results for 5% of the investment.

Hey bitflipper,
I like how the structure flows, meshing the different sections together. One thing you could probably do is take the theme of the last section and double it. I think it starts at around 3:25 but really you could probably do a repeat from around 3:08. Extend it, build it up with some nice dynamics and creative filtering, play with the orchestration. Then you could probably have the musical resolution decay with the percussion hits over 15 seconds, really draw that out. Let me know what you think.
