I still haven't figured out what to do with this opus-in-progress, but I was fiddling with it last night and decided to add Ozone to the master for grins. There's still no limiting - this kind of music just seems to like full dynamics - all I did was to add Ozone's harmonic exciter. I've uploaded the modified mix to SoundCloud so you can hear the difference it makes. Note the deeper bass and brighter percussion.
I've got a bunch of exciters and saturators and such, including popular plugins such as TB Reelbus and FabFilter Saturn, but I keep coming back to good ol' Ozone for this. It can fatten and brighten a mix of any genre without aliasing, killing transients or introducing grittiness (unless you want it to).
https://soundcloud.com/bitflipper/work-in-progress-with-ozones I should add that the settings used were very gentle: 1.2/100% on the low band to 120Hz, 1.1/77% 1.5KHz-6KHz and 2.5/74% above 6KHz.
