Very cool stuff.

It sounds like the technique is more akin to stop-action or clay-mation (i.e., a really sophisticated Mr. Bill).

What I got from it (I only watched the vid one time) is that they are using a pulsing laser and then sampling down the path of the beam.

Amazing stuff, thanks for sharing! Only disappointment is that after creating a 1 trillion FPS camera, they decided to post on youtube at only 720 HD resolution. :P I can only "imagine" what it might look like in full 1080, or higher.
