  • Is Windows 10 really a privacy nightmare? (p.2)

Read the EULA for Win 10. There's a whole section that talks about taking MS to court. If you live in the USA you can't file a lawsuit against MS. They have binding arbitration to settle any disputes but will attempt to settle out of court. It also says that if you live in Canada you can refuse to accept updates and they tell you how. Disconnect your PC from the internet.

It's not just MS. This is corporate behaviour in all aspects of our lives. Just ask the folks in California that will be taxed if they collect rain water.

There you have it ... the corporatization of America, and all the votes in America don't seem to care an iota ... but I bet you right now that the first politician to go against the corporate stuff, will probably get snuffed out very quickly on media and everywhere else ... with bad stories going back to the day the kid was born and had his/her first poop on the wrong place!

Hi,

Agreed.

I do think that Microsoft one of these days, will pay a very hard price for any foul in the game!

As others have and will.

It's just a shame that Apple and Microsoft worked hard to kill anything Unix and the like, and preventing those folks from gaining a step or two with their work. I hope that as time goes by, this changes.

Rest assured that the "powers that be" have bigger fish to fry than you and I.

Hi,

The weird thing is folks in America, corporate folks in America and Europe, for example, not learning from the breaking up of Europe and Africa and Asia ... which was the dismantling of a bigger country in to many others ... and eventually, the corporate state will get the same treatment because people want, and eventually demand, different things that the government does not assist with. American politics, right now is about the corporations and ignore the individuals, who do not exist, or vote, or care!

Microsoft, will sooner or later, take a hit, and the sooner the better ... with many others ... because they have hurt other opportunities in the market ... and the history these days is that the corporate strength will not last as long and eventually will get busted up!

This is a never ending story that continues to repeat itself. New ideas and development are almost always done with good intentions. That idea then gets manipulated and misused, normally by government, government agencies and military.

If you don't like the new policies, I'd look closer at your government than I would Microsoft. I'm not saying corporations are not guilty, but they are generally after your money more than your intellect. The government wants the latter.

Just like ISP's are forced to log all data and provide access to it, that move is now being made to computers in general... why - because the technology has opened that door. Have you ever been startled by Googles ads... the ones that show you EXACTLY what you were looking at earlier in the day. That's not evil, that's targeted marketing. BUT - that same information put in the wrong hands can do a lot of harm.

Those that think staying on Windows 7 or 8 will be safer is fooling themselves. The user agreement can be changed at any time, with any update. If this is something that really concerns you, the only choice you really have is to unplug your machines from the internet. OK - keep one machine online for basic communication and Netflix.

There's more than paranoia where it makes sense to unplug from the net. Windows is especially known for bogging down as more and more updates are put on the system. Yet the main reason you have these updates is for 'security' cause of bad stuff on the net. Disconnect from the net, and you don't need to bother.

There's not a lot I do anymore on the net (a few e-mails, a few forums, read some tech sites or news sites). I can do that on a netbook running Linux. Once I am done with my current project, think I will redo the main machine and not hook it to the net at all. That should help performance in a bunch of ways.
