Just got the Izotope Production Suite and was completely
unfamiliar with Trash.  So I watched the Groove 3 Video on it.

WOW...this thing is amazing.  It can even act as an Amp Sim
with a DI Guitar...just thought I would share my amazement,
as I had no idea how versatile this thing was...

Thanks for that, Larry. This is the first positive review I've seen for Trash. Mostly I'd only read of people's disappointment with it. I demoed the original version at one time and wasn't taken by it because it was too nasty for my uses. Fingernails on a chalkboard nasty.

Maybe I need to re-evaluate it. I've been able to resist the bundle because I'm really only interested in Insight and Alloy. Now please don't come back and tell me that Nectar is the cat's meow.

Nectar is okay, great for some things, okay for others.  not the cat's meow.

Trash 2 is way better than Trash 1.

iZotope gave me free addon packs so you might want to check your account for those.  plus there are some presets packs available somewhere on iZotope's site, I forget where but they are pretty good to.

I still like Omnicide better than Trash 2 for distortion, But Trash 2 is above a bunch of other distortion plugins.

I regularly use Nectar2, Ozone and Alloy2--I love all three of them. Unfortunately, I am hesitant to get this loyalty deal, because I already have alloy and nectar, but I am still considering it, since upgrading to Ozone Advanced alone, and the addition of Trash (which I also am not sure I would use much) is still a good value for the $$$.
Of course, I don't have any extra $$$ at the moment, so perhaps it's a moot point anyway.

I have Ohmicide and the thing about these plugins - I'm guessing this also applies to Trash - is that their range of sounds stretches from the slightest of saturation to all out batsh*t crazy psycho-fizz, and that the latter accounts for maybe 70-80% of the dial. It took me ages to work out how to use Ohmicide subtley as most of the presets seem to have been crafted for shock value.

One feature of Ohmicide I love is its dynamics controls - you can set the threshold at which the distortion kicks in, and shape it with attack and release controls. It adds to the dynamics of a track in a unique sounding way. I don't know if Trash allows this.

I agree a lot of Omnicide is crack dial and get shock distortion or fizz.  the power is under the hood and deep deep customization playing.

trash has many options I just don't think there is enough.  it's very very good though.

Trash 2 is subtle controlled distortion and yes Omnicide is bats*it crazy melt your face distortion (most of the time, 90% of time haha).

that's why I have both.  best of both worlds.

That's why I like Trash 2: it's not only about distortion, there are great filters for more subtle work when I just want to change sounds a little bit.
