The big Ventilator has separate modes for organ and guitar. I haven't used it on guitar yet, but I've seen some YouTube videos and it sounds pretty nice. Makes you want to break into "Badge".
 
I don't know that I'd pay $500 for a guitar effect if I was only going to use once in a while, but golly, it sure does the trick for organs. The mini doesn't give you the tweaks (it's all presets), and there's no Stop button. There are two separate units for organ and guitar ($350 apiece) so you end up paying more if you want both.

I may have to invest in a vent.  I've only had my XK3c for a little over a year (so of course I still have the "new car" syndrome with it anyway!).
 
Bonzo, do you think the tube in the XK3c defines the "growl" that you're having to use the Vent for on the XK1?
 
have either of you (or anyone) used the XK series with a real Leslie?  vintage or even a new one (like the Studio 12)?

I've never had my hands on an XK3C, so I can't comment on what sort of effect the tube has.
 
I'm sure an XK1 or any other recent clonewheel would sound 100% awesome through a real leslie. I owned a 122 and a beefed up 145 years ago. Can't beat the real thing as they say, but they're big brutes if you have to lug them around. Nice to have one parked in the studio though.

Have any of you compared the Vent to the Mini? I play guitar way better than keys, but would want to use it for both. Actually, mostly for "Hammond world" .LOL .... Jim Alfredson's reviews of the various Vents, are very inspiring and the OD aspect is very cool.

I need to curb my curiosity whenever possible as I've been a bit of a gearslut over the years.

Thanks bit. I came to the same conclusions about the Mini's and just haven't got around to "$500 for a pedal" part. LOL
At some point tho.....and I am certain Badge will be the first thing I play! HA

I'm just dumbfounded that we are discussing a plugin that just a few years back I touted as one of the best Hammond sims around and I got shark attacked by the B4 and Classic Organ users! Ah, how times change! Just kidding, fellas. BTW, I started out playing organ in rock bands when I was 14. When I got old enough to work and save money I bought a B3 and a 145 leslie! Now, my lower back can tell you I sure prefer the sim!!!!! Before anyone starts, No, I don't have them anymore and if I did they wouldn't be for sale!!!! Hee-Hee. I do have a Model 25 leslie for guitar, no horn rotor and no slow speed, just fast and stop. Pretty good to mix with an a guitar amp.

Heh...ya me too.  Started with a C3/122....murderous brute to gig with, so I downsized to an M3/145 which was great - except the smaller 44 note kybds made some things a little tricky. Ditched that eventually for one of the first clonewheels to appear....a Crumar T1, and kept the 145. Much more gig friendly, but the Crumar didn't sound as good.
 
It's funny how we gladly dragged all that stuff around in the past....Now everyone whines if their entire rig won't fit in their backpack.
