Ok, disabling the network makes so that my maximum DPC latency is < 200 after a full minute or two. Re-enabling it makes it shoot back it to ~6000 again. So that tells me that I can't run the internet on this computer if I also want to process audio? Should I be enabling and disabling this connection all the time depending on if I'm working on a Sonar project? I mean, if that's what I have to do I'll do it, but what a hassle. Tell me there's a better way.
I am having to learn about cow anatomy so that I can operate on the cow so that I can repair its lactation system so that it will supply me with enough milk that I can make a souffle. I don't want to know anything about cow anatomy. I just want to make a f--king souffle.
Some people don't and some have to disable network cards, i always disable mine when platinum is running!
You need to run the LatencyMon test for 1 hour without any other programs, switch it on and go do something else, just check every now and again to see if its gone into the RED.
The reason i say an hour is because 1 hour is as good as all day ! 2 minutes is not !
If LatencyMon runs for 1 hour in the GREEN, then fire up the Platinum project put it on loop playback where a section that uses most midi tracks and run LatencyMon again for another hour.
After you get to this point with latencyMon still in the green then your PC is good to go.
Remember as soon as it goes into the red its time to stop LatecnyMon find out WHY, in order to find out why you need to do something eg Disable something or update something or Optimize something and run the test again and keep repeating again until it does run in the green. You need to be dedicated to wanting LatencyMon in the green always and you will then achieve it.
Keep notes of things you disable or optimze so you can reference to it once you solve this.
My LatencyMon runs for 8 hours with platinum running and the highest is 600us on the worst day and 200us on the best.
LatencyMon is the first place towards solving your problems because then you can say its not the PC.
Please just make sure you check your USB devices are on seperate IRQ's.
Good Luck !
