I agree with Brando.. device that browse the internet are a dime a dozen and in this day and age if you can afford Sonar you certainly can afford a second device so your DAW can remain off line. As I have said and above post by Zagg also states,, it's all about the quality of your hardware and how well your set up with your PC. 
I bet if you bought a PC from a DAW builder none of this might happen. If it does then you need a new RME or Motu interface which can handle heavy work, if that doesn't work you stop using the plug ins that are causing trouble.
Trouble shooting is a matter of swapping out components until you find the faulty part, sometimes there's more than one!  

@taccess - That's an excellent point. you're right, I can't say for sure that the SACM spike is a definite sign that Sonar will crash. So, I spent all day yesterday actually composing in Sonar, giving myself a day off from cow anatomy. Most of the time the network card was disabled, though not all the time. I saw the SACM spike early on, but behold and lo, there was never actually a crash. So hmm, perhaps that is just a coincidence or else a red herring.
 
I have also learned that I can keep all my EW Play instruments connected, and when I want to export to audio, I don't need to freeze individual tracks, I can do it all at once, as long as I unckeck fast bounce. Makes the export take 20 minutes, but definitely a worthy trade-off.
 
So... I'm not going to downgrade Play after all, I'm going to keep my hard-wired keyboard, and I'm going to disable the network card most of the time I'm working in Sonar. Let's see how that goes after a few weeks. I REALLY need to get back to writing music, so I'm taking a break from all this computer stuff.

I had problem with opening TTS. Someone on this forum advised me to open it as administrator and problem was solved. Maybe this solution will help you out.

Perhaps enable Auto save, to prevent losing any work?

Nope.

Your NIC was showing over 3000us with latencymon, so it is clearly a problem and disabling has solved the issues you would have been expireriencing if any from that.
If you still have a random crash it's not the end of the world so long as your not crashing everyday ? once a week or once a fortnight or once a month is exceptable and could be just related to commands intililizing combined with other commands etc etc.

If Platinum crashes everyday however, then you need to dig deeper and do more troubleshooting until you find what's causing it. It's up to you !

Just before I go I will say make sure all your buffer settings in platinum are turned up:
Playback I/O
Record I/O
Midi
There are more also, plugin buffers, extra buffers, disk buffers etc etc, a lot of these settings are overlooked by some so I thought I would mention it .

It crashes about once a day. But life's too short. I have a real life too, and I come down to the studio to work on music, not computers. At some point I gotta say enough is enough, and I'm now at that point. I just wanted to come here in case people having similar issues were going to think that disabling the NIC card was the solution.

Sorry to hear that it crashes so frequently.
If you have a friend you can (temporarily) borrow another kind of Audio Interface from, it could be worth checking.
As mentioned earlier, I experienced much of the same behavior when I had my M-Audio 1010lt.
It was not stable under XP, Vista or Win 7, so I ended up selling it. 
I have had an Echo Audio 8, and a Lexicon IO 42 and a RME Ucx since then.
I have not had these issues since switching AI.

Latency issues rarely have anything to do with crashing.  More to do with pops/clicks/noise and the SONAR audio engine just stopping (and turning off).  They are big problems, but isn't the source of your crashes.  Without looking at the crash dumps there is no real way to say what is crashing or why.
