Yeah, but it kind of makes sense. The FW-1884 already has power. Why would it need power from the bus? Secondly, maybe without the power connection (via FW) *maybe* it won't send a power request to the bus and therefore not falsely "interrupting" the OS.

We'll see. I should know by Wed as I have Amazon Prime 2 Day shipping.

While the computer is up and running can you power down and power up your FW-1082 mate?

Haven't tried and don't know why you would want/need to do that?

I have my RME & FW-1884 on one power switch. I leave the DAW on 24/7. I only turn on the RME/FW-1884 when I need Pro Audio on the DAW.

Many times when I'm just using the internet or making CD copies of mixed down WAV files I don't need the Interface or Control Surface on.

Again, my main DAW workflow is to be up 24/7. Not typical I know, but you know......

Or, you somehow lose connectivity between the 1082 and the computer, you'd want to power down/up without having to reboot computer? That may not be an everyday occurrence, but it could happen.

I leave daw and FW1082 on at the same time and turn them both off when I have/want to.

As they say, diff'rent folks for diff'rent strokes mate.

The time to fire up the computer has always taken longer than to just turn on the RME/FW-1884. Hence why I leave the DAW on 24/7 and only turn on the interface/surface controller hen I need/want them.

If my $10 cable purchase works I'll be as happy a clam in ocean.
