Zargg71I will likely use the tip from tascamforum if the new FW card does not do the trick, Ed. I see the upside to doing it (shutting down certain things while pc is on), even if I have not done so thus far.
Zargg71I got my new FW card installed today, and I can now turn off - on the FW 1884 without a crash Tried 3 times, and it just reconnected. Everything else is also just dandy There is still hopeAll the best, and thanks again for guiding me through this.
Zargg71Thanks, Ed. Yes it is. It is this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Syba-Low-Profile-PCIe-1394b-1394a-2B1A-Card-TI-Chipset-Extra-Regular-Bracket-/400825761465?hash=item5d5313beb9:g:rugAAOSwI-BWGxODIt was quite reasonable as well It allowed hot swapping, so maybe that helped? All the best.
Zargg71No, I just turned it off and on again several times without a problem. (I thought maybe it being able to do hot swapping helped when turning it back on again)
