"Bluish"  - Hi talented music pop pickers - long time posting

I think this is an original tune -that said , you can't be sure these days. I remember the saying, "Good musicians borrow, great musicians steal" either way, am I covered?!

Naturally, when I saw the name Mahavishnu, I thought of the John McLaughlin band of the early 70's.  Instead, I get some nice, easy listening music rather than jazz fusion.  That's OK because it is a nice piece of music and well played and produced.  I've not heard this melody before, so I guess that it's quite original.  Fine job.

Thank you FFQuade and Wookiee

Lynn - Yes, Mahavishnu Orchestra was a great influence hence the name - I will try to work on the complete opposite of easy listening and go for a jazz fusion, impossible time signature like 19/8 - thanks for the confirmation of originality (I think)

I haven't heard this before either, so original it is. I noticed on your page the East West Pianos logo, so I'm assuming that is what you used for this great quality of sound. I have the EWQL Bosendorfer 290, a beautiful Grand Piano sound. Great job on this piece and very nice production. Keep up the great playing. Very, very nice sound.

Peace and blessings, John

Thank you Scotty

John - thanks - I do have EastWest and I've just got delivery of Komplete Ultimate 9. Nothing wrong with the EWQL Bosendorfer 290 but strangely enough I used the piano sounds from my old Yamaha S90 - great keyboard - funny how you tend to revert to old and trusted instruments.
That said I can't wait to try the Komplete pianos - especially the "Giant"

You have some great stuff on your SC site, Ireno. You have a good ear for arrangement. Really like Bluish. As far as originality... well, I would say 99.9% of whatever any musician/composer writes or plays is based on what they know... and what they know is based on the work of others -- influences, heros, teachers, other artists pas and present. There's no such thing as true originality, but that's not such a bad thing. For example, the first thing I thought of when I listened to Bluish was "St Elmos Fire Love Theme". But hey, I'm comparing your work here to that of David Foster... not bad company, I'd say. There's a familiarity there in terms of composition, and overall "sound". I can recognize linear movement in the bass that we've all heard 1000 times, or some common chord changes, etc. etc. etc.. and things that are reminiscent of certain styles of music I've heard in the past, or composers... like David Foster! But none of that is a bad thing, per se... because in total your music is original. Can't wait to hear what you can do with Komplete... if you can get through the installation... :)
