Hello again,

I think, among a handful of possibilities, that Cakewalk SONAR Pro is contending with Google Chrome and design.

If I am listening to YouTube on an up2date Google Chrome BEFORE any Cakewalk software is initiated then Cakewalk SONAR Pro will give me the gamut of prompts regarding a soundcard (see above).

However, the same happens when I use Windows Media Player.

I have the latest drivers from my soundcard company for the proper OS *but there seems to be a 'shared audio driver' issue...which I've variated every-which-way in the config view of Preferences to no avail.

Cakewalk SONAR Pro is fine if I think to open it BEFORE I use any audio on my laptop but AFTER powering the laptop on.

For the forums information.

Regards.

If you are using the same interface for SONAR and other Windows apps make sure the sample rate set in Windows is the same as SONAR.

Hello,

Thanks scook but it didn't work.

I have found that the preferences>playback + recording> "WASAPI shared" driver settings is a solution for some reason.

I simply wanted to be able to use Cakewalks ASIO settings with YouTube or Windows Media player or any audio outside of Cakewalk SONAR Pro WITHOUT Cakewalk showing any of the screenshots/prompts under this thread title ('Silent Buses Detected...Master. No sound.')

It didn't matter if I started Cakewalk first or vice versa or that I watched a YouTube tutorial in either Google Chrome (uninstalled now) or Mozilla FF while Cakewalk was running.

I am ordering a Focusrite soundcard and seeing if it is more compatible with ASIO in Cakewalk SONAR Pro. I'll return it if it isn't and start considering other horizons.

Why is ASIO no longer an option for me?

This is obviously a problem about audio driver sharing.

We could use a trouble-shooter software that doesn't just read whats going on... or a Cakewalk SONAR multi-ASIO wrapper such as what Steinberg has devised.
(Yep I even tried that.)

I just want to help others so they can avoid what I experienced.

Thanks.
