"The river contains high concentrations of Mercury, Lead and Arsenicum", the news item stated.
The news item also stated that there is "no evidence that this is harmfull to animals or humans".

Although it sounds contradictory, that could be a true statement.

We're constantly redefining what "high" means. Same with radiation. All these nasty things exist in nature and always have. None are human creations, and they will still be there after all of us evil humans are gone.

Where we fail as a species is allowing them to accumulate in concentrations high enough to become harmful. But just finding out you have arsenic in your water isn't in and of itself cause for concern.

Absolutely not harmful whatsoever. In fact eating a pencil and a thermometer every day should be part of a carefully controlled diet. Fish love it...

That just means, not enough of animals and/or humans have died to complete the statistical requirements.

Mind you, I'm not a tree-hugger, for trees may contain lead, mercury and arsenic too....

I read where drinking water and breathing air are harmful, so I recommend avoiding both.

And now that crap is heading to Lake Powell. Oh, and the spill is up to 3 million gallons, now.

Do the buttwipes that caused the spill get to keep their jobs?

I hope so! If it's on work-release, that is.
