Be open to the experience.

Don't forget, once you install caps and plug it in... it is still capable of giving you an "experience" if you don't discharge the caps and you touch the wrong thing. I don't know your experience but the best advice is to (not literally, but almost) keep one hand in your pocket). I've been shocked once building amps, it's all it took.
I love building single ended amps.. I don't design, but there is nothing more rewarding or more frustrating as building an amp. Sometimes mine sound great, but now and then I build one that will not work no matter what I do. Oh well, I'm almost done with a FrankenTweed Deluxe, it has a Bandmaster OT. It should rock. I was going to use a zener diode to lower the voltage but, heck with that.. I don't need to lower the voltage, I need more voltage, roight? Tubes are cheap!

I wish there were a lot of amp builders here. It would give me something to talk about that I really understand. Most of the recording threads make me feel I'm wearing the dunce cap.

Heh - I know what you mean John

I've built a 5E3 and an AX-84 project.  The 5E3 in a tweed cabinet with a Weber speaker and the AX-84 is a 2U rackmount.  I have a 6G15 reverb as well that is slated for a rehouse into another 2U rack.  I don't design either but I do tweak things and I know my way around SPICE etc.  Have also build stereo and preamps ... at this point I'm pretty much saturated in terms of being able to find places for more!

So much fun.
