  • How to set up Per Project Audio Folders

I know we've gone over this before but the search mechanism for the forum is, well, lacking.  I'm trying to go back and re-save all of my older projects that did not use Per Project audio folders so I can clean up all of the audio that's floating around in global folders or is duplicated.  Sonar online help is not helpful and the X3 helpfile says to go to Preferences, Audio Data, and make sure the Per- Project option is checked before doing a "Save As".  I don't see that option in in the dialog box.  What am i missing here?

Yeah, I figured this out all by my big self.  Sorry for the spam.  Happy Saturday.

You should always leave the solution for others to find (when they are having similar issues and google this problem).

1- Go to Sonar Project folder
2- Create a folder with the projects name
3- Create another folder inside that work/project folder called "Audio".
4- when saving check the box that says save audio to folder and use the address box to enter the directory path to the folders.

The latest versions of Platinum no longer need this because the Audio is now saved with the project automatically.

Right you are, Chuck!

I've reaped the benefit of posted solutions many, many, many, many, many, many, many times.  I was more frustrated that I couldn't find the solution myself as I know it's been talked about in the forum.

I took the route of opening the projects I was trying to isolate, locate the appropriate WAV files, saving all of this as a new project with the new path for the audio folder defined in the "Save As" path options at the bottom.  After that, I could go into the Global Audio folder and delete the duplicate wav files.

Thanks for all of the help you've put out on the forum, Chuck.

Chuck I don't think you need to do much other than open the old project, and perform a "save as" with the "save audio with project " box ticked. Sonar automatically creates the audio folder inside the project folder.

i might have confused things by mentioning X3 in my post.  I couldn't find what I was looking for in online help and went to the X3 guide to see what I could find.  Johnny V, what you described is exactly what I ended up doing.  Works like a charm to keep things organized and isolate duplicate wav files to delete...and make room for the SD3 update!

Thanks, guys.

No confusion, I saw Platinum in your signature and also aware of the x3 is still the documentation that seems to show up when you google Sonar Help.
But I'm pretty sure that " Copy audio with project" box has been there for a long time now.. I've always kept it checked.

It only take 4 mouse clicks when you're on the forum to open up online help for the current or any version of Sonar.

At the menus above ie Cakewalk, Forums, Posts, PM, Page extras

I. Selects Cakewalk then
2. Support then
3. Online Documentation then
4. Sonar (your language)

Then you can look up the TOC table of contents, word index or do a search

Yep. Been like that for ages. Way back into the pre X series. Now it's the default as if about 1 or 2 versions ago.
