 They all ready track EVERYTHING you do on the internet without windows 10 - privacy is moot today in America 
 

It's been like that for at least 10 years and Apple was doing it WAYYYYYYY before Microsoft was. All you had to do was install iTunes to find out that Apple was tracking your computer 6 times per minute, while being used or not! And now, after you visit Musicians Friend, all the browsers bring up the 3 items that you checked out in the corner on the advert sections ... privacy?
 
Our only hope is that a judge nails this ... but programmers and the media will confuse the judge and the law so bad, because they are stupid and do not know coding or computers ... they only know some "law" and they can not see people getting around it in ways that we can't even imagine!
 
What I find scary, is the part you guys don't discuss ... that means your OWN WORK is at risk to be stolen, and no one here is saying anything! All you have to do is use Word, Excel, Outlook (even for an email!) and One Note, and you will automatically no longer own the rights to it. Pretty soon, you spend 30 days putting a song together, send it as an attachment from Outlook, and you find your song licensed somewhere else owned by Microsoft ... all because you used their program "for free" .. therefore ... !!!! eat it!

Who cares that you get up, eat breakfast, go to work, have lunch, come home, spank the kids, eat dinner, watch a movie, have a fling with the wife, have a little sex, fall asleep ... but all your music, writing, art ... is for someone else ... and you don't even worry about that ... and you are a musician? You might as well go play some seedy bar for a kick in the butt and a dollar a day! No one cares about your troubles ... or mine! Or your silly and stupid music! .... wow!!!!!!
 
The perspective is wrong! We need to fight this now ... not after people have been victimized!
 
If DAW's and other programs follow suit, and many of them WILL, if no one says anything about Microsoft, or Apple, then you already know you are a slave! A SLAVE!

Of my 3 machines, none of them have given me the option to install it yet! They say keep waiting!
 
I suppose that later is always better and they end up fixing some garbage along the way?

You can download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft, which will allow you to download an iso of the version of Windows you can upgrade to, Home or Pro, and it will also have a button to 'upgrade this computer' I think if you download the iso, you still have to upgrade first before a fresh install, but I think you can burn the iso to disc and upgrade via that, not sure, just what I have read. I down'ed the iso and stored them away and burnt to DVD. I then let the Media Creation Tool do the upgrade via the net, it was all very smooth, everything seemed to work fine, Edge seemed as thought it may be a little buggy, but after a week of Windows 10 I rolled back to Windows 7, it's just not for me yet, the roll back process was again very smooth with no problems (apart from loosing 10GB of previously free space due to 3 folders left on the C drive). I still have a Windows Insider version of Win 10 on a test machine, but I only run that when I need to test something out, but I will keep an eye on Windows 10 every now and then to see if things change so as I can actually bare to look at it.
 
 

Well I upgraded yesterday, turned off the tracking BS during the install and the process was smooth and quick. I'm very impressed with it so far - it seems far slicker than any version of Windows so far and Sonar has been running great on it.

It's almost worth it to switch to 10 just to see what's messed up. Once you find out what you should have done or what you will have to do, you bounce back to your old OS, fix things up and update again. That's what happened to me but not on purpose. I only wish I was that smart.
 
I have to say that a year ago I would have bet big money that Microsoft could never pull this off. Live OS swapping and full recovery in under an hour, without any serious issues. This used to be a weekend project!

Now can anyone tell me how to do a custom zoom? 100% is too big and 75% is too small.
And how do you go back to another page which isn't the last page? With Win 7, you right-clicked the arrow to show the history. Now it just looks at you like you're stupid.
Well, it looks at me like I'm stupid.

Got W10 on one machine and there were no issues. Just slightly concerned with the NVidia drivers for the high end video cards. But I have not checked NVidia lately, and I think that w10 is intentionally making sure they do not have issues with drivers, which was a very well known hassle in the past!

Those who did an upgrade go into windows event viewer, clear all your logs. Reboot, go to windows event viewer. Count now many red items there are after you booted :) Curse yourself that you didn't do a clean install....

My event viewer had 3 things ... and they were minor ... but the computer was already clean and only needed the browser caches cleared before install, which is not really an issue.

My event viewer said "We don't need no stinkin' Windows 10!  7 is working just fine."
