So does "Tesh" - doesn't make it better, ya?

As mentioned in another thread, I'm currently listening to some remastered Zep so that would fall under "R" for "Rock" yeah?

Hi,

NP: Riuychi Sakamoto: NEO GEO
After that: Riuychi Sakamoto: BEAUTY
After that: Riuychi Sakamoto: HEARTBEAT

Two of my favorite songs ever are in these albums. The title song in "heartbeat" is a monster. The song about good morning/good evening is another monster in Beauty. And Iggy in Neo Geo is excellent, and makes his other stuff sound silly and sad!

I thought I recognized that name. Yellow Magic Orchestra! I have (all?) 10 of the YMO CDs. Were the songs you're referencing created before YMO or after? All of the CD booklets are in Japanese, so not much help.

Edit: I just received Muse's Live At Rome Olympic Stadium Cd/Blu-ray yesterday, and I was going to put that on, but now it's gotta be YMO. Might as well start from the beginning. "Computer Game (Theme From The Circus)" from Yellow Magic Orchestra.

I'll bet you guys are also fans of Joe Hisaishi?

Years ago, Princess Mononoke was my granddaughter's favorite movie. Although not a big fan of anime myself, I was blown away by the soundtrack and had to look up the composer. That's how I got turned on to Joe Hisaishi.

I think Studio Ghibli's stuff is way beyond standard anime. I've seen bits of 'Princess Mononoke', but 'Spirited Away' and 'Howl's Moving Castle' are quite extraordinary, not least because they're all hand-rendered.

A quick check shows that I have 27 YMO CD's and over 40 from Ryuichi so I'm guessing you're missing a few.

I currently don't have anything from Joe Hisaishi, so that will be put on my "To Check Out" list!

Be sure to watch the video I linked to above. It's a mind-blowing concert featuring a medley of Hisaishi's film music, featuring an enormous orchestra and perhaps 200 vocalists. Epic.

Sakamoto has over 30 solo albums. Those 3 in particular are MUST GET. Others would be a couple of soundtracks, and stuff, like "The Little Buddha", "The Last Emperor"(for which he shared an Oscar with David Byrne of that one band ... yeah!!!), and a couple of other things here and there.  Those 3 albums were back to back, and in the 90's, but they are a treat and then some!

The YMO stuff that was fun to get was the one that had the comedy bits! Loved them!
