Just a reminder to anyone finding themselves in the same frustrating situation I was in... Everything was linked and I couldn't figure out why.. Then I remembered, I had used the very nice "Ripple" feature when editing and forgotten to turn it off... Took me half an hour, copying to new tracks and linking/unlinking and looking for everything between earth and back before I found the very simple reason...

Ya that's a tool you have to be cautious about using because if you forget its on, it can really throw a stick in the wheel. Don't feel bad though, your not the only one who has done this

Offset mode has multiple indicators - the button in the Control Bar, and the + sign next to controls.

Ya in my opinion these are 2 tools that should be used sparingly.
And with that, don't really need indicators (though offset has one) because they should only be in use for less than a few minutes (or less) at a time.

Sure a big flashing red light would be nice for both but at what point do we draw the line and ask for flashing indicators for everything, working in a child safe environment.

How do you turn ripple off globally?  I can't find it in Preferences and every time I start up Sonar I have to go to options and disable it manually.  Most of the time I forget and frustratingly have to undelete a bunch of stuff or just close out and start again.  I've finally learned to go there first and uncheck it but is there a way to do it globally so it's always off to start?

Ripple editing is not on by default and it should not be on when opening a project, (unless of course you left it on while saving that project).

YA I've yet to use it and it certainly is not on. I would think you might have saved a screenset or lens with it active.

Riiiiiigghhht, the lens thing.  I keep forgetting about that.  I probably did save the lens with it on.  I'll try re-saving with it off later to see if it works.  Thanks.
