I know melodyne can do this , but it is the only one on the market that does it , or is it the best at doing that specific thing ?
this is the feature i am interested in and have used it before and it worked very decently, however i cannot justify the price of melodyne studio for that one thing i will be using.
was wondering if anyone knew of anything similar in this one feature that does a good job.
the "universal" algorithm" included in my basic version just doesn't do a good enough job at all.

Thanks

I don't know if this will work for you (I have never tried it as of yet),but look at this link:
Audio to MIDI Conversion in SONARhttps://youtu.be/u4b5r7fm25o

Also you could use Reaper:

Yes i believe that its using meoldyne to achieve that conversion, and as i only have essential i cannot use the polyphonic algorithm,so my results would be poor and not worth it.

i will check out reaper

Thanks

The studio version of Melodyne works quite well for Polyphonic Audio to MIDI, not sure if Reaper's ReTune is Polyphonic.

Melodyne Editor does poly, and is a bit cheaper than Studio, possibly there is an upgrade price from Essential, Im not sure.

If you mean polyphonic like an entire mix,  Melodyne does horribly.  However, if you mean just one track with polyphonic notes (like guitar and keyboards), Melodyne has more chance to succeed.  And if you really want the M to do a great job, feed the M engine with a single instrument with NO effects,

Many have dreamed of taking an entire song and converting it to midi.. might be something that happens when we are all dead and gone but forget it.
I tried a few of the offerings that were either free or a demo and they were all terrible at even converting a real piano part to midi.
