Hi,

I've given up on all those old foggies coming up with anything worthwhile. Almost all of it sounds dated and out of touch and time now, and I do not enjoy it much. It's kinda scary ... yet one more re-hash of the same thing out there and another monster movie, and another chainsaw movie and another idiot thriller movie and another strong man follow-up, and we keep on thinking that it is good and they all make our own work look poor and bad ... because we are not doing it.

Of all the old timers, none of them, is as strong today as they were when they were young. Roy Harper comes close, but even Peter Hammill now is getting repetitive and not strong musically. Jimmy is probably one of the worst in terms of choices of what is good, when he went on to destroy the good bootlegs and release it as a CD ... that ended up ruining the energy behind it all.

Just another vampire! sucking your money!

Good night!

I very much doubt Page has had the need to do anything for the money for decades. I do get the impression that all the re-issues are a bit of a labour of love for him.

That said, I've heard bootlegs of this XYZ material, and it's honestly not all that good. Some amazing playing, of course, but it's all very half finished and embryonic.

that's actually exactly what I am expecting.  nothing earth shattering or even nostalgic enough to make me want to buy the t-shirt...

I'm a Page and Yes fan, but I doubt if I'll be bothering with that.

At least Percy has tried re-inventing himself since the demise of his "main band..."

It sounds like what it was - demos from a band that never got off the ground. I'd say it's mostly interesting from a historical perspective. The main thing that came out of XYZ was Chris said a song he wrote was reincarnated by Jimmy and appeared on the second Firm album. Chris said he decided not to take action because the song/album didn't do anything.

But I don't see anything wrong with releasing this kind of stuff as long it isn't misrepresented. And I'd rather see Jimmy release everything he has now, no matter how marginal, rather than someone else exploiting him after he's gone (like The Doors, Hendrix, Beatles et al.).

I hadn't heard that about Jimmy releasing a song on the Firm album that came out of the XYZ songs.

I agree, it's probably more of a historical release than expecting anything to actually make that much money from it.  and better now than later when someone else is trying to exploit it.

Hi,

Just another reason to cash in on Chris Squire and his name!  If the artist's name was Bapu, Jimmy  wouldn't care or give a damn and not share a nickel!
