New song from forthcoming album with ''lyrics loosely based on Paradise Lost'' apparently.

Same here. Seems like he's shed the last vestiges of the Floydian sound. Can't wait to see what he's come up with.

There's hope out there for "we the geezers!"

Cant wait for this, I am sure like many of us here, we love the music of Pink Floyd and the associated members solo albums. Rick Wright's 'Broken China' being an overlooked classic IMO too.

Having said all that, when you heard this track, didn't you think it reminded you a little of this...

You sure that's not Steely Dan, featuring David Gilmour in a 10-second cameo?

I'll admit I kind of thought the same thing.

Just as McCartney's best stuff happened in collaboration with Lennon and Martin and Tom Petty's best material coalesced under the guidance of Jeff Lynne, Gilmour's best stuff was in collaboration with Wright and Waters. Genius is amplified within the sphere of even lesser geniuses.

Gilmour would do well to at least hire a great producer. Unfortunately he's such a legend that almost any producer would just say "whatever you want, boss". Perhaps he could coax Todd Rundgren out of retirement. After the blood was cleaned up something truly great might emerge.

Hi,

(soapbox moment!)

I have not been a great fan of David's work on his own, since the very first album and tour that he had, and a video was made. THAT ... was nice, and it did not have to do with PF, and it sounded good with that band behind him. Since then, I have found him to be too big for his own good, and the live album in Poland is a perfect example of ego-mania and not music, and then you want me to listen to it?

Don't need it. Zbegniew Preisner deserved a lot better treatment than the invisible treatment in that concert and DVD. Shameful and gross, and really tells you how much David really is into "music", other than some other piddly song with some supposedly meaningful lyrics!

Sorry ... PF was, one of my learning friends and groups ... but what is left over, is rather sick, boring, and pathetic! And I'm sick and tired of the egos behind it!

(end soapbox moment!)
