Inexplicably, Since February 2015, on my dev laptop Splat has been installing to:
"C:\Users\32 Bit\AppData\Local\Temp\is-HBQ6D.tmp\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\SONARPLT.exe"
Where 32 Bit is indeed the username.
I found this out by accident one day and was shocked as since the beginning of my time with computers DOS or otherwise, no program has installed in a temp location all by itself. And yes that is the program location in the icon properties and that run in location as well.
If I use the "offline" installer downloaded from my account and do a custom install, I cannot control the destination folder but it does display it just before installation festivities begin. And it's "C:\Users\32 Bit\AppData\Local\Temp\is-HBQ6D.tmp\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\SONARPLT.exe" as "expected".
This isn't causing me loss of sleep but it's tad unnerving.
I can't find C:\Users\32 Bit\AppData\Local\Temp in the registry associated with SONAR or Cakewalk so...... yeah.
The is a SPlat install in c:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\SONARPLT.exe". If I go to that folder and execute SONARPLT.EXE, it says it's 21.02 build 37 dated Feb, 2015! Since I have never had control over this path and would not every use some temp location - Cakewalk did it. :-)
On my DAW the path is c:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\SONARPLT.exe" is it should be.
