I've been using sonar x3 over a year. Yesterday, I started a project. Midi Track created and output to Audio track with the softsynth loaded to the FX rack on that track. The Midi track graphically indicates it's playing the notes, but I get no output. If I change the output to microsoft wave table synth (internal), The midi file plays. I've reset and rescanned all vst's. I've checked that all the microsoft visual c++ runtimes were installed. (Used to effect session drummer after Windows Upgrade). My midi devices show up. Steinberg UR22. I"ve now spent two days trying to resolve this. I do have through on (echo). Again, this just started happening 2 or 3 days ago. Anyone expereinced that problem and resolved it before going completely bald from pulling your hair out?

I can use my Axiom Oxygen 49 to enter midi into finale V25. It plays back, but it uses the internal ms wave synth. The UR22 is the default audio out device. Everything checks out as working in Device Manager. I'm using Windows 10 Pro 64bit.
Thanks in advance,
Michael Warren
I renamed the 2 aud.ini files I found and then let sonar rebuild them. That was the solution. No idea why after over 2 years I had to do that, but it works.

Instead of creating your own midi track, audio Track, Synth and then figuring the routing out, try simply dragging your synth from the Browser into any blank space in Track View.

This will generate all necessary tracks and your routing all in one go.

When using SD or AD that is how I add the instruments. I did try your method, but still, I see the meters indicating midi track is playing, but no output to the softsynth. Nothing has changed over the last year. It almost seems that the link of midi output to a softsynth is broken. I can output the midi track to the internal MS wave player. I really don't want to go through a complete reinstall, too many vst's to start all over. Thanks for your suggestion. I'm willing to try anything. The program, since I've purchased x1 has been very frustrating, and not really conducive to just sitting down and working without weekly tweaks because something that worked the day before is not working today.
Excuse my frustration.
