I was just playing around seeing what a "single edit" of a long track I am working on would be like. It was a good opportunity to try out the new ripple editing. The project is a mixture of MIDI and audio.

I was impressed by how easy it was to cut out several sections of the song.

The only caveat being there is no automation at the moment but I am looking forward to having another go once the mix of the long track is complete.

I am waiting a few more updates before i use ripple editing in my projects: teething issues!

I love ripple editing when I load a live sound mix from a practice. Split and highlight the dead space between songs, then delete.  

It helps as well by digitazing thousends of tapes and vinyl. Because there is a lot of dead space between the recordings.
Ripple Editing is one of the best features in SONAR.

I haven't tried much, sounds like I need to.

Markers were and tempo changes were fine. There was no automation I'm the project when I tried it so I can't say.

I think its always a good policy to make a copy of the project and work with that on any major editing job whatever method is used.

I can hardly wait to hear that completed "long" track.

Is this a new update feature?  If so, then when was it released?

It was introduced in May 2017, refined for MIDI in July 2017.
