Hi every one,
 
I tried some new things on this one. I've been told from time to time that I have a 60s sound for the most part, and some times I hear it's an 80s sound. Thats good by me, I love the music from the 60s and 80s. However, I'm really tying to get in to the 2000s some day soon. LOL
 
I tried some new things in this one. I always go to fast when it comes to the mix. Reason being I want to start my next song. I took more time with the mix this time. Please check it out @

I think the strings thing is a little loud.... and maybe a little more "spreading" would be ok for it...otherwhise it is ok!
 

The only difference between a lot of 80's music and 60's pop are synths, lol. I can hear a lot of pumping on your vocal side-chain compression. I'd tone that down a bit as it is distracting.
 
If you move your instruments more left/right, you'll leave more space for the vocal. Nice tune, I'd work on the mix a bit more before moving on, you'll be glad you did.

Terry, you're really finding your groove.  Your voice and performance are as good as any you've done.  While your style echoes many songs I've heard before, you still have a unique sound that's unmistakable.  Way to go.

Yeah... just as I read Dan's comment about the pumping....I heard it too. And through out the song... Tame those compressors.
 
This still has a dated pop sound to it.  Getting out of a dated sound is not easy. You need to listen to the stuff that is on the radio today. Examine it.... reverse engineer it. Dissect the parts. Listen to the drums and the beat. Listen to the bass. Listen to the fillers, the synths the guitars, the keys and what they are doing. Listen to the vocal phrasing.... all of that goes into making something either sound dated to a specific time or current.
 
What is current now will sound dated to the 2010's in another 10 years or so.
 
What struck me as dated was the rhythm of the drums and the synth in the back ground playing the pad or string part. I notice that most pop these days has a 4 on the floor drum part. The beat is dominate and driving for the most part. Even country pop has picked that up to some degree. Lose the synth and rework the drums to a different not so syncopated beat..... see what happens.
 
Aside from that... good song.
 
I tend to spend just as much time if not more time on the mix as I do on the tracking.
