  • Anyone else been banned by Harmony Central for no reason? (p.3)

I've been a member there since before Scott sold it, since 1997. It went downhill over the past decade, seriously downhill. The product reviews are ridiculous, mostly written by kids who have been playing music for less than a year (or so it seems). The forum were once populated by mature musicians, for the most part. Then younger people started to pie in, not that is bad... but it usually is. Things went south. It was more fun when it was basically un-moderated in the 90s. There was a lad of crap and some bad stuff happened but there was good in it because anyone could say anything and the tolerance level was through the roof. It was like the wild west of forums. I imagine a lot of forums were like that back then, I sort of miss it but I can't communicate with 18 year olds. We speak a different language it seems.
I am surprised you got banned for nothing. If I can get in, I'll be glad to ask you about it if you want.

I'm guessing that somebody confused you with someone else and went on a bombing mission. Whoever that other unfortunate soul might be, he'd better put some pavement between himself and the Harmony Central Department of Defense. (I said, "he", Karyn, because, you know...We have it coming.) Hyur8, hopefully, you'll be able to clear your name at some point.

If not, I suggest embracing the art of spycraft. Sure, there's the constant threat of discovery and a firing squad, but the toys are fantastic.

I used to imagine becoming a spy, then realized I can't sustain deception. Plus the being-captured-and-tortured scenario.

Dendy Jarrett sent me an email telling me that my ban may have been part of a response to a spambot attack, and I'm now reinstated. If someone on this thread helped salvage my rep, many thanks. I now have the freedom to ruin it honestly.

Thanks very much. I don't know whether you looked into it, but I've been restored there.

Sorry to learn the site's declined. I remember checking it for reviews long ago when I was first buying gear. Can't remember whether it helped, but there seemed to be a lot of knowledgeable people.

I know you'd have said... but I have to ask..
Do you have history with them with a different account?
Maybe another user with a similar user name was banned and they thought you were him trying to get back on..
Maybe they IP blocked a user and you're with the same provider.
Maybe they thought you were/are a spammer.
Maybe they just don't like you..

1) No history.
2) I made up a weird name (like hyur8), but it's poss.
3) ISP . . . could be, I suppose.
4) Nothing at all spammy about my question.
5) But I'm such a nice guy.

Maybe your weird name looked randomly generated like a spambot created the account

At least he didn't use a well-known spambot name like "Bapu."

That's why my previous name lost its 5K posts and I had to start a new one ... sure ... I'll believe it when I'm 6ft under and no one gives a damn anymore!
