Here's my first new song in a while, and it's in a style that I usually don't do.
This past winter, I took an exile/sabbatical from my big-city troubles to a place called Independence, CA (pop. 600) in California's Owens Valley. And I brought my laptop, USB keyboard and a Strat with me.
The place kinda looks like this:
The lanscape was inspiring. Not onlt did I write songs out there, but some of them just came into my head, and all I had to do was transcribe and record it. This was one of them, that played in my head during my time out there. It was as if the landscape was writing the music for me. I'm not even much of a guitar player, but I figured out the guitar arrangement and practiced it for a few weeks before recording it. I could get a better guitar player to do it, but it wouldn't sound the same as what I heard in my head.
So here's the song, entitled, "Basin and Range."
https://soundcloud.com/elson-trinidad/elson-basin-and-range I recorded a rough demo in Reason 6 there and recorded and mixed the entire song on my home studio with Sonar X2 Producer.
I believe this is the first project I've completed on X2 that reached the mastering/finalizing phase.
