Fabfilter Pro-Q2 has made most of my other EQ's obsolete, especially since you can use it in Low Latency, Natural Phase, or Linear Phase modes, 3 totally different CPU hits, depending on what you're using it to do.
I use Sonar Quadcurve EQ (Pro channel) when doing recording, to quickly rough in a mix, for the sheer convenience . . . but then it usually gets replaced by Pro-Q2 when the mixing gets serious.
Like you found out . . . not cheap.
Before I got the Fabfilter Pro-Q2, I used a combination of Voxengo Span (now 64 bit VST3 - FREE !) and Sonar Quadcurve Pro channel, which worked well, but took a while longer to set up, and had a few less features.
Not totally sure what you mean by a "spectrum matching" feature but I believe Izotope's Ozone has this ?
Clicked on your You Tube link ! . . . maybe you don't need better EQ ? ... sounds excellent to me ;)
