Or were they just the ashes from the NASA lobby ash tray?

This is how internet conspiracy theories get started.

Good jerb.

Not unusual for it to take time to hear from Pluto...lol

The radio signal travels at the speed of light (about 3 x 108 m/s) to the spacecraft, which is standing by listening for commands. How long does it take, you might ask, for the radio signal to reach the New Horizons spacecraft at Pluto, nearly 3 billion miles (4.6 billion km) from Earth? About 4.5 hours!
This is what you would refer to as a Real Long Distance Call...Wonder what AT&T would charge for that...lol

This video about the Pluto mission is superb:

I'm of the opinion that there used to be a planet between Mars and Jupiter.  The math says there should be one there, but all we have is an asteroid belt (the only place we have one).  I say that whatever caused the planet to breakup sent debris in many directions which became some of the moons that we see around the larger planets (especially those with bizarre orbits) as well as creating Pluto and it's "moons."

Although I have not heard of anyone confirming it, supposedly someone spun all the planets back in time until all of their heaviest cratered sides were aligned to where the missing planet would have been.  This time was about 12,500 years ago, a number that pops up in lots of places and, possibly, the time when the Earth was tilted giving us seasons (it took the Space Shuttles to see that, under miles of ice, the geography of the Antarctic matched very old maps that were found and that there are entire forests under the ice that were obviously frozen VERY fast). It all makes for some interesting theories!

12,500 years ago? Isn't that approximately how old the earth is according to the Old Testament? Hmmmm....

Might be skirting the rules, but I think that would be 6000 years give or take a few

And ignoring a LOT of stuff.  Gee, didn't take long for this to become a lock candidate!

Keep it to Pluto and it'll be fine...

There is a large asteroid/debris field starting at about Pluto's orbit.  Given a few more years Pluto could still put on weight and get its planet status back again.
