Hi guys, it's been years since i've been around here. I usually use live drummers but i'm looking to get back into being self suffucient, at least while recording fun covers.

I'm tired of programming drums on piano roll. What are some good Drum Loop companies that have well organized grooves and fills for contemporary rock, metal and pop? I don't need any dance or hip hop. I'm using Sonar Platinum ....for all i know Sonar might have these lol ....not sure.

Thanks

Hello Sammy. Welcome back! Have you tried EZ Drummer 2? You can pickup lots of midi stuff of all genres' and it's really easy to program a song using it's new UI.

And Groove Monkey has some good Midi drum loops that work with most drum programs. And some come as whole songs.

You can use the MIDI patterns you get with Sonar and Addictive Drums 2 to generate your own drum loops with SI Drums, Session Drummer 3, and Addictive Drums 2.

EZ Drummer is awesome. So easy to use and tons of great beats and kits. Lots of expansions too.

For audio loops, I've never found anything better than the loop libraries from Discrete Drums. The one by Chris McHugh is particularly good but so is Greg Morrow's...actually they're all outstanding.

To hear them in context go to craiganderton.com and click on the Music tab. All the songs there (except for the last two songs on side 1) use Discrete Drums loops.

Nice work Craig. Nice drum.sound. Actually the songs I listened to sound huge. Lots of space for everything. Big soundstage.

I went to the music site on my mobile phone and all the music on side one was one after the other and the names of the songs were all together in one space. IOW I couldn't tell which name went to what song.

EZD2 had a user interface that really helps turn midi loops you have/buy into what you want/need and still sound like a drummer played it. For that alone, for me, it's a keeper.

Hey man,I use midi loops for drums for most of my songs,I write indie, punk, rock, post hardcore and a mix of those together.I have tried all the companies and toontrack has the best most expansive midi libraries especially for metal and rock.
