Hi. I wanted to revisit the topic of whether or not Waves plug ins can in some way get into Sonar Professional; or is it a mute ( pun) point to keep pursuing this! I have tried several things. Maybe missing some gem of a method or just not doing something right.

To ascertain you have a working license, the best way is to transfer it your PC or dedicated thumb drive. Makes sense, since they have so many effects.

Rescan your VST Plug-ins.

I occasionally get some disappearing or unregistered themselves alas a rescan usually fixes this.

I use Waves plugins on the majority of my mixes without any problems. As suggested above, I activate the licenses directly to my workstation (using Waves Central) then open Sonar Platinum and perform a VST rescan. So far this method has been successful for both processors and virtual instruments.

They don't show up after scan attempts. I see that you guys have Platinum which apparently has no problem wih Waves. Somewhere along the way I had a Waves tech person ( i can't find his email) claims that Professional does not support Waves.....some other users said they do. Argggg. I am about to retry all steps but wanted to see other users feedback . Thanks

I guess you've followed the steps detailed on the Waves website, but just in case here's the page...

I may have just answered my own question. Here is a link of all the supported hosts / DAWs for Waves. Sonar is Platinum only according  to this

I originally downloaded them for a previous version of Sonar, so I guess since upgrading to Professional I screwed myself out of access to them ....!  I know, Waves and Cakewalk have conspired to get more Platinum customers!!

I've got no problems with Waves in SPlat, though I can't speak for Professional; I do remember a while ago that I had an issue with Waves in SPlat, but the Waves techie straightened me out pretty quickly (the issue had to do with my placement of the files, but I don't remember the specifics). I'd keep at the Waves techies. I might ask Cakewalk tech if Waves are supported in Professional, but I've never heard otherwise regarding the support of Waves. But (if one wants an opinion on this and, mind you, it is only an opinion), with the slightly peculiar and somewhat proprietary way that Waves handles plug-ins, I'd say the lion's share of the issue is on them to help you understand what's happening.
