I may have just answered my own question. Here is a link of all the supported hosts / DAWs for Waves. Sonar is Platinum only according  to this

You can go back in the version history - while they might only be testing and officially supporting the flagship.  I'd imagine there is zero reason they would not work in Professional which is basically the same code with fewer features.

No first hand experience though, as I run SPLAT.

Being a Waves hinges, one has to wonder why the hell are they making plug ins not available to so many users of Professional.

I'd contact Waves support again.  They can't test every version of every DAW, but there should be nothing fundamentally different from Professional and Platinum from their perspective.

Just say "I'm working on the most updated version of Sonar"

I cannot think of any reason why they would not work in Professional. If you can use other third-party VST plugins, then Waves should work as well. In general, these are the most likely reasons they are not showing up:

1) They have been installed to a path that Sonar does not know about. Check to see where they are and make sure that path is listed in Sonar's VST scanner.

2) They have not been activated. Use Waves Central to activate your license.

3) The Waves installer failed with an error you didn't catch.

This last one caught me out early on when Waves Central first came out. There is a troubleshooting page at Waves website that will walk you through resetting a PC so you can install Waves products cleanly.

Dan

Hi. I wanted to revisit the topic of whether or not Waves plug ins can in some way get into Sonar Professional; or is it a mute ( pun) point to keep pursuing this! I have tried several things. Maybe missing some gem of a method or just not doing something right.

I have Professional and use Waves all the time no problem. Make sure your .dll files are in a folder that's being scanned. If not, you can add the folder to the ones The plugin manager scans.

Go into Waves Central and check whether the license is on your machine or still in the Waves cloud.
This caught me out initially with some Waves plugs.

What I would do and have :)
First put all your wave licenses up on your Account cloud. Fully uninstall the waves command center to remove Wave plug. Reboot your system, then make sure that you have the newest Wave Command center installed and reinstall. You may have not installed the 64 bit versions or some other relevant options.
Then put all your licenses on your system and then install the plugins. The last command update seems to need access to the licenses before it will properly install "to access" the plugins.
In Sonar hit scan or rescan failed VSTs.

I just purchased CLA Vocals from Waves.  I installed it with no problem.  When I click on "insert audio fx" it's listed right there under the Vocal category.  Or if you list your products by manufacturer, it will show up under Waves.
The most difficult part was authorizing it with my iLok, and even that wasn't terribly difficult...just a few steps.

I am waiting for a response from Waves. In mean time I downloaded the newest version of the Waves Central, deleted existing plug ins and re- installed them all ( they are all licensed) .,so for what it's worth again, and as before when I do a new VST scan, it stops every time on one of the Waveshell file and a notice pops up that a license for that can't be found. Well I don't see in the Central page that Waveshell is an entity that needs a license!! Is it not just a holding folder of some kind  for the plug ins.......he'll this stinks!!!
