  • Does anyone have any of the Arturia V stuff?

I've been contemplating getting a VSTi or two from the Arturia V collection for quite a few years now but never actually done so.

Now I'm there again, and wondering if I should just pull the trigger on either the V Collection or V Collection Classics.

I was just going to get say the Modular V, CS-80 and Jupiter synths, but for the extra hundred euros I can get the whole V collection.

I'm just wondering... Does anyone here think that is not value for money?

I'd probably never buy another VSTi, ever... I rarely incorporate sample based stuff into my work anyway, so I'm not always chasing the latest library, which can work out quite expensive.

On the other hand, since buying u-he's Hive, I'm finding I can do a load of the old analog stuff with that... It's just that I am thinking that the V stuff would bring along a whole new world of inspiration for me...

Decisions, decisions...

You can get the Analog Lab presets version included with a small keyboard controller for $99 list and see/hear what tickles your fancy. There's also a choice of larger keyboards or a Bitwig combo.

They all have demos so you could try whichever you like.

Personally, I think the interfaces are just too small and fiddly.  Arturia's support is also not known as the best either.

The sound is pretty good, but I'd prefer to own Diva & Monark to get many of those classic sounds (but of course none of those sound like a Prophet VS).

I too have contemplated getting some of them or the collection.  I own Analog lab.  After I play with it a bit, I always talk myself out of it.

Yeah... Good points... Perhaps I should try the demo's first...

cheers

tried a few of them... I'm really not sure... Hive has spoiled me.

If I could be convinced that Arturia's TAE really makes a difference then I may be swayed...

One thing that bugged me was the interfaces for each of the five that I tried... I get that they are supposed to be all different synths, but in terms of how you manipulate the controls, via mouse, should be the same across all VSTi, but they're not... And you can't type any parameters in at all.

I do like that I can instantly dive into the Sem, Mini and Jupiter and know what I am going to get, but the CS-80 and the Modular are just a synth too far and I'm not sure if I can be bothered to learn how to fly them...

Arturia has the occasional 50% off sale.  So keep your powder dry.  The last one was Aug. 2014, if memory serves.  So, you may not have long to wait.

as already mentioned they do sales.. depends on you , really does.. if you are of the time when you saw / used the real versions of the same synths. and you want emulations . the lab thing is included if you buy the v collection. the only grumble people had in the past were they were a bit heavy graphically.

the u-he stuff is great also, but holds its price. I am a fan of d16's stuff also synth wise.. but things like z3ta and synleth1 are very usable , even though both are oldish

Yeah... I'll keep my eye out for any sale in the near future... Would be worth calling back into their site once a week

I must admit that I hardly bother with Z3TA any more... Perhaps I should have another look at that.

I've known about Sylenth for some time, but somehow managed to keep my GAS in check with that, for some reason. I notice that Sylenth 2, in 64 bit flavour, is now available (I'm only using 64 bit stuff at the moment) so I may download the 32 bit demo and go from there.

Thanks for reminding me Fog

Well I like them Andy, I have had the Modular V more or less since release added couple more 2600, Prophet, CS 80, then V collection 3 and now V collection 4.  Listen to my stuff and most is coming from Arturia synths or Korg's digital Legacy collection.

Which is your favorite of the Arturia line?  I have none at the moment.  Which one (or two) would make your desert island list of instruments that you would not want to live without?
