No, Cream did not crash, but it still does not work.
Drop Kirnu Cream into an instrument track Presumably you mean an audio track, correct? Because Cream installed itself under VST instruments and it is impossible for me to put Cream in a MIDI track, just audio tracks. If this is wrong I'll need some help getting it to the correct folder.
I guess I should have said insert it into the project using an instrument track, not an audio track. While SONAR allows synths to be added to audio FX bins, Cream needs MIDI input it would need a MIDI track anyway. In this case, an instrument track makes sense. Cream is a VST, it cannot go into a MIDI FX bin. Drag Cream to the project checking these boxes in the "Insert Soft Synth Options" dialog

Make sure select "Enable MIDI Output" (this is the default) If we are still talking about a MIDI output on an audio track then I haven't been able to do it. There is a drop-down box where you can identify a MIDI output, but it never stays as such. It always reverts to an audio output.
This is the default for Cream. Just an FYI, it can be checked in the synth rack by right-clicking on the synth

The settings is also visible in the VST header and if not set when a plug-in is inserted, can be set there too

Enable Echo On in the track We're talking about the buttons that turn blue? No effect on anything
Set the input to your controller (if planning to record through Kirnu Cream) For the moment I am using a track of MIDI data. It doesn't seem to penetrate Cream in the audio track.
In the target instrument or MIDI track set the input to Kirnu Cream Cream does not show up in the list of MIDI inputs.
Enable Echo On the target track. Nothing leaves the audio track to the MIDI receiving track.
I suspect, from advice given, that Cream should not be in the VST instrument folder, it should be in a MIDI folder, like where the Cakewalk MIDI arpeggiator is. Could someone just yes or no me on this? If so, maybe a tip on how I can download Cream into the correct folder and the address of the folder.
All of this is going to be a problem if the first few steps are not performed correctly. Here is a small video showing a loop running in the Cream track,
enabling echo on the Cream track,
setting the input on the DPro track to Cream Omni or the appropriate Cream Channel.
and once echo is set on the DPro track, the meter starts to indicate audio signal in the DPro track.

Cream seems to be installed properly, it is a synth as far as SONAR is concerned.
