Hey, Shad,

Yes, it's just high gain guitar distortion EQed and panned differently for the effect I mentioned above, and no synths or keys were used on this one, just guitars, bass and drums.

Thanks again for you input and comments, have a good one, buddy!
Bob

Hi, Grant,

Thanks, brother, I really appreciate you giving this a listen and your kind words of encouragement!

Nope, this is still the original mix, I'm hoping to finally get a little time over the weekend to make some minor changes and adjustments.  I'm thinking a touch of EQ and leveling will do the trick with a little luck.

Your last two cover posts of ZZ Top and Skynyrd were absolutely fantastic, great stuff!

Thanks for your good input and support, greatly appreciated, my friend!

Bob,
Excellent sound on this one.  I didn't hear anything out of order with it.  The drums on this one are some of your best work yet, really driving and tight.  Of course as usual I dig the killer guitar and vocals.  Great work, cool tune!

Hey, Mark,

How's it going, buddy?  Hoping you're doing great!

Thanks very much for checking out "Frenzy" for me, and for your good input, observations, and kind words!

Yes, Sir, I completely agree with you on the "acoustic guitar/melody test" for about 80% of songs, but there are many strictly "guitar riff based" major hits that would never pass that test.  Just think how the vocal melodies for Zep's "Whole Lotta Love", "Black Dog", or Priest's "Another Thing Comin', Metalica's "Enter Sandman" or Disturbed's "Down With The Sickness" would sound sung over only a strummed acoustic guitar.  LOL, Yuck!   Yet, they were all major radio hits.

Either way, I absolutely do agree with you about this one not having a strong vocal melody line, but it was basically slapped together in less than two hours after a very frustrating week of extremely bad news on multiple fronts, and I was just recording spontaneously to let out some anger.

Thanks again, Mark,  I consider you one of the top musician's/producers on the forum, and greatly appreciate your input, advice and friendship, and value your opinion highly!

Best wishes,
Bob

Hi, Garry,

Thank you, Sir, I truly appreciate you checking the song out and your very encouraging comments!

I'm hoping to make a few EQ and panning adjustments and posting the remix in a couple of days.  Hopefully that will tame the low end on the bass and drone guitar.

By the way your new post "Breaking Through" is excellent, I love the strong Floyd vibe it has.  Really nice work!

Thanks again, Garry, I'm grateful that you like the song!

Best wishes,
Bob

alright, some chugga chugga....it's nice and meaty, big and bouncy....
kinda sets the mood right off the bat!
heheh

bob, i think you have a buildup between the bass and guitar parts that is creating that 'drone' effect others have mentioned..

i don't mind it, it actually works as it's own effect..

to me, it almost gives it a big stadium feel, that's how the low end translates in the giant rooms...
it's not mush, which is good....

dig the performances tho, great solo....

i like the vocal melody, i think it's plenty strong enough to carry the song, it's surely a stronger melody hook than a lot of other songs i've heard in this genre.....

Hey Bob.  On the road here, so I'm stuck with ear plugs and a laptop, but, FWIW, the mix sounded good on that equipment.  As for the tune, I think it's a beaut... catchy melody, great feel... had me going the whole way.  As for the performance: what can I say... patented Bob Oister: great riffage, perfect tight harmonies... all the stuff that makes me jealous

Hey, Kev,

How are you, brother?  Hope you're doing great!

Thank you very much for giving this a listen and for your valuable input and very kind words!

I'm definitely going to take your advice (and Mark's), and beef up the low end on the drums a little bit for the remix in the next day or two.  Between that and a little EQ surgery on the guitars and bass, hopefully it will get things in order!

Many thanks again, Kev, and I'm very grateful for your good observations, support and friendship!

Have a great weekend, buddy!

Hey, Mark,

Thanks, brother, I really appreciate your good input, observations, and encouraging comments!

I'm hoping to perform a bit of EQ surgery on the remix, and also beef up the low end of drums a touch.

Nice job on your new death metal post, cool stuff!

Thanks again, as always, I'm grateful for your input and support.

Best wishes!

Hey, John,

Thank you kindly, Sir for giving this song a listen, and also for you good input and observations, and kind words!

I'm hoping to fix up the boominess that you mentioned on the remix within the next day or two.  I was experimenting with a major change to my usual bass guitar EQ, and then that ended up leading to some tweaking and changing of the EQ on the rhythm guitars and drum bus, so things sort of snowballed a bit, LOL.   I think a little" backwards" fine tuning may be in order for this one.

Thanks again, my friend, I always appreciate your good ears, and value your input highly.

Best wishes!
Bob
