I'm flying to see my brother tomorrow and it scares me. I can't explain why. I'm losing sleep over it.

I haven't been anywhere on a commercial airliner in 10 years.

The weird thing is that I've twice been up with my friend who has a little 6 seater for local joy rides in the last few months and that has always been fun (a little scary I'll admit).

I don't know why I feel the need to post this. But it's true. I'm a wuss.

Gee I hope you make it, lot of planes falling out of the skies these days, just watch the news, then you got the terrorists, it's a bit of a lottery really, but someones got to get it.
Hmmmm, in America to boot, not the most liked country by the towel heads, that raises the odds a little more, ahhh, but you'll make it there . . . don't know about making it back though, that's really bumping the odds . . .
Man what a feeling that must be, sitting in a plane that's going down, wonder what's going through your head ? I know once you actually hit the ground it will probably be the back of the seat in front of you . . .

Anyway, best of luck
Don't forget to check if your life insurance is up to date . . .

And before people try to tell you that flying is statistically safer than driving . . . well you can believe it, but don't you go taking any comfort from it, because you got to add in the other statistic, and that is the 'Chance of survival' statistic.
Now in a car crash, you got a good chance, a very good chance of survival, but let me tell you, you start going down from way up there in a commercial airliner, and you aint walking away from this one . . . you're going to die, make no mistake. It will be a few minutes of extreme terror, before BANG!!! . . . body parts flying all over the place, chances are you wont feel anything, unless you really unlucky, and have to suffer until your last drop off blood spills out from where your arms and legs use to be, while your face is being melted off by the super hot flames fueled by the highly flammable aviation fuel.

But hay, flying is safer than driving, unless you're one of those in the next one to fall or be blown from the sky.

Cheers

Remember, it's not the fall that's a problem, it's the sudden stop.

HTH.

I don't blame you. I hate flying, too. Congratulations on getting to see the Dead. It will be weird without Jerry, but it's still cool that they're celebrating their 50th anniversary. Have fun!

So you're saying that if you're not dead before you get there, you're going to see the dead when you do?

And you don't think that's an omen?
