Crazy issue with Cakewalk, maybe you guys have a good suggestion. So when I open a project I'll get a message that says it can't find the .dll and that it may be missing or improperly installed. It seems to be random what plugins are doing it. I only tried a few projects as I was concerned that if I keep trying projects I'm gonna lose the plugin info if I have to reset anything.

So the first question is has anything changed on my PC? To my knowledge no, I haven't done maintenance, installed new programs or downloaded anything. I did update SPLAT last week but have used it without issue since, until last night. The only thing that happened out of the norm was that I was auditioning synths for a part in a song and when I tried the Roland Groove Synth Sonar crashed. After that is when the issue started. Two other weird things have happened; 1- the fault reporter was quarantined by McAfe and 2-I opened plugin manager and found the .dll for Dropzone (one of the plugins that Sonar says is missing) and rescanned, after the scan Dropzone no longer shows in plugin manager. The file is still there when I go to its directory outside of Cakewalk.

Since the issue, I reinstalled the pack through Command Center that Dropzone comes in, nothing different. I rolled back to previous SPLAT, I also allowed the Windows 10 update to go through. Checked again this morning before work...and... same issue.

Any clues as to what's going on here? Thank you for any help you can offer.

Could McAffee be causing issues? Try whitelisting the \program files\cakewalk tree to prevent the antivirus software from messing with your VSTs.

It's probably also a good idea to do a fresh rescan of your plugins. Go to Preferences->File->VST Settings and click the Reset button under Scan Options, then click the Scan button.

So its being completely crazy with scanning for plugins this afternoon. I am thinking that I just want to uninstall and reinstall cakewalk. Any suggestions on how the best and easiest way to do that is? I have the SPLAT subscription, I upgraded from X3 Producer.

clean install for Platinum http://www.cakewalk.com/S...n-Install-Instructions

clean install for X3 http://www.cakewalk.com/S...n-Install-Instructions

clean install for all Cakewalk products http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013372/Clean-Install-All-Cakewalk-Software WARNING about step 8 - if you install 3rd party plug-ins in the default VSTPlugins folder under Cakewalk, this step will delete them too. Temporarily move that folder to another location before deleting the Cakewalk folder if you want to preserve the 3rd party VST plug-ins installed there.

So I if am going to uninstall do I need to do both and reinstall both? Is there a quicker way to address this? It seems like maybe the directory is screwed.

I am not sure clean install is the fix. The problems appear to be plug-in and AV related. Reinstalling plug-ins will do nothing to fix the AV issue but will can be done without going to the trouble of removing SONAR.

That is a problem with iLok.

Even though it's affecting plugins that don't use iLok? So how would I go about fixing this?

The error message above is for the Softube Fix Flanger/Doubler an iLok protected plug-in. It appears that something is interfering with iLok. McAfee maybe?
