I just got a new mobile workstation with Xeon and Windows 10 pro.  My desktop is an I5 processor running Windows 7. Eventually I will probably ugrade the processor on the desktop.   I will probably use both for recording (desktop in the studio and mobile workstation for remotes) and some level of mixing.  Eventually, I will combine the files into one of the two for final mixdown.  My question is what do you recommend regarding having Windows 10 on both, or will they work well together with the current desktop on Win 7 OS?  For example, if you put down the music beds in the studio and then record the vocals remotely, then fly in the laptop tracks will everything play well in the current config or work better with both being on Windows 10?  I want to streamline things but without spending unnecessary dollars if possible.  Thanks.

What i recommend is using Google drive and installing it on both machines. I have a generic Google account which I store all my projects on. As long as the other remote computers have the same DAW and hopefully as a bonus have all the same effects its easy. Store all the audio files and projects in their own separate folder on your Google drive so you can access them on either machine.  Also create Subs busses and bounce all subs to a main sub. This allows ease of transition for different audio interfaces as well.
