Trying to get my vocals out front a little more. Hoping to get some thoughts on how they sit in this mix. If you have headphones I'd be real interested in what you think through the cans.

Hey howieizme, listening in cans and I`d say bring the vox up at least 3db they sound great...I couldn`t really hear the talking part at the start either. You should try and treat the drums with a small amount of what you`ve got on the vox too so it doesn`t feel like the drums are in one room and the vocals in another.

Cheers,

Sorry I don`t have $20,000 LOL

I would split the difference with the drums. Maybe back off a db on drums and up a db on vocals. Sounds very good...cool song.

Thank you both for the listen. I will give both a shot.

That kick seems pretty forward in the mix, and could be competing for some of the low mids of the vox since both are probably centered?

And it's not necessarily just about the volume envelope? Although they can be good tools. Can you speak to how the vocal is being processed?

Tracked, doubled anywhere? Bused, effected? i.e., compressor, limiter, EQ, delay, stereo tools, verb, exciter, deess, etc... There's a million little tools and tricks.

What's the panning on the other tracks? Are you bringing the vox up the pipe? Anything else other than bass and kick?

When I listened, yes there's room for improvement, but first would be interested in what you are doing with specifics above.

Listened twice, the drums do seem to dominate to my ear. Mostly the kick, but the snare too, not that ride so much?

I didn't really find the vocal lacking. I do agree with others that the drums overall are a bit too prominent. The ride isn't, but the kick ans snare are pretty dominant. The vocal track itself sounds recorded well but could use a little fullness and roundness to it.

Where do I wire the $20K to?
