I've always loved this song Janet. But, I do think it's Jimmy's deliverance that makes it real. Hard to sing a song like this and make it work.

Thank you so much, Philip.  He worked magic on songs.  I finally took a chance to listen to this again...I'd forgotten how he'd done a few cool changes with the chords.  Man, he was good.  I swear, my music won't be nearly as good as it could be from here on out without him prodding me on.

Thanks Tim.  He was good, wasn't he?  And he did this in three days...better than I even imagined it.

I swear, my music won't be nearly as good as it could be from here on out without him prodding me on.

I suspect you may happily find that not the case.
The prodding will continue, but from within yourself. The lesson does not vanish with the teachers' passing.
We are all but pebbles tossed into a pond. Our ripples echo on distant shores long after we have sunk to the bottom.
The ripples from the pebble that was Jimmy are far reaching indeed.
Be the shore.

You know, Bob, I've thought about listening more carefully to his music, etc.  And others' too, of course.  And see what I can hear by myself.  I'm not sure that will be as helpful as having others point things out to me, but certainly it could help.

But thanks, Bob.  You're a real poet and a real gentleman and great friend.  Don't you leave any time soon, K?

Janet,
I went through quite a few of Jimmy's songs last night from his soundclick list and it was really hard listening to them without shedding a tear. I remember this one all to well. To hear it again I couldn't help but play along. It's incredible how two very talented people can bring the most out of each other. It felt really good to hear his guitar and voice shape what is truly a magnificent composition ... I'm so thankful that you took the time to write such an inspiring song. You've come such a long way here and have set such fine example for the rest of us what a person can achieve with musical talent and production skills learned and shared in this forum. Thank you for your inspiration.

I also realized what's especially different about this forum than other forums is that a person leaves a legacy behind which remains. We can always go back, listen and once again relate to that person. It's more than just the words that we leave behind ... Perhaps, we leave a part of our sole.

Tim, I know you were interested in doing a version of this song as well at one time. That in itself, is a real testimony to the credence of this tune. ( I would personally love to hear a version from you if ever you get the chance ).

For the small part I had in this, thank you, Rigpa.

Yes Frank, I am.  Proud and humbled at the same time, if that's possible.  Totally tickled that Jimmy did it for me.  Thank you.  :)

It does to me too now, Kev.

Jim, you're quite generous and too kind. Thank you.  I'm so glad this song came about the way it did.  Yeah, this forum is great, isn't it?  I owe all you guys tons!!  And I must give credit again to Daryl C. for giving me the key to learning how to write songs.  He recommended to just write out in paragraph form what you want to say in each verse.  Then get it to rhyme.  Seems simple now, but that part of it was eluding me.  It's still not easy, and the hardest part for me in writing songs is simply thinking of something to write about.  Thanks again.
