Jeez, I wrote this morning before I went to the ranch but it must have got lost in the ether.
My wife's band recorded a version w/ drums but never released it. She got the rights. We decided to do a slower, stripped down version. It got a little full, esp. toward the end, even w/o drums. funny how that can happen.
Never saw PJ Harvey live. Yea, she has writtten a lot of good songs. Thanks for the kind words, Lynn.
Kev, I've been playing around w/ that some. it is hard to get it right thoughout the song. And now the singer, after I post it, decides she wants to redo the verses, which means the whole thing. I don't mind, the song is right in her range and when she's on (they do it live) she can rip off your ears on this and still sound good. Time to back off the mic, dear.
Speedtom, I kept trying to add interesting bits - I mostly do electronic stuff where repitition is part of our motif repitition is part of our motif and dropping in the on and off oddity is the rule. But the "tumbling down" stuff was added almost as an afterthought. Another girl I work w/ (tho she lives on the west coast) got her vo studio up (finally!) and sent that part to me. When I added Breveb to make it more "chorusy" I found a preset and it clicked right into the groove. Sue will like it. And for me it does kick off the end.
Thanks for the listen and thoughts. Since I've got to go back for the vocals, I'll use some of your suggestions.
